Poetry Gallery

I encourage you to find your creative muse and start expressing yourself in one way or another.  It doesn’t need to be poetry or art.  You could play or appreciate music.  You can try dancing, gardening, yoga, swimming, etc.  The world is your playground, when and if you can fit it in.

With creativity:

  • The mundane becomes the amazing.

  • The painful becomes the gift of new growth and healing.

  • The muddy puddle becomes refreshingly clear and bright.

  • The overwhelming burden becomes a welcome relief by letting go of the past.

I’m still learning and exploring how much love can be infused in my poems, because to me poetry is love.

Reading Out Loud

Poetry is meant to be read out loud.

Grace

Just around the corner
something is downloading
the whisper of a heart murmer
a secret desire growing

Seeds of love thrive and flourish
changing into rainbow lights
surrounding those they nourish

Where does grace come from?
Was it here all along?
Is it in the daily humdrum?
Is it in the morning birdsong?

Teach me to see it blossom
Reveal it as it unfolds
Let me know
the awesome story of grace
with me now

Restorative Writing

I can trace my history of writing poetry back to when I was a teenager.  At that time, I found writing poems helped me sort out the world and grapple with the upheaval of puberty and discover my own sense of identity.

Before that I had a fond appreciation of nursery rhymes, before I could even read them myself.

Later in life, my interest in poetry expanded to an even more therapeutic avenue when I found myself in troubling situations.  Those times when it seemed I was in a tiny lifeboat tossed in a turbulent sea.

During a nasty divorce from my first husband, I wrote poems to calm and heal my broken heart.

Meeting Dan really helped me feel loved again and gave me a second chance for happiness.

After Dan’s stroke and death, writing poetry and painting was a way to shift my mindset from tragedy to seeing gifts in my life.

During the pandemic, in the quiet fortress of our home, I wrote poems and painted to manage stress and to overcome fears and find clarity and hope.
